MTG in South America

By: Vision

Hello and welcome to this week’s international experience. As most of you all now know I am in Lima, Peru and I have had the pleasure of participation in one of their many Friday night magic events. I was asked to write an article that would illustrate how the magic community is coming together in this part of the globe.

I am please to inform everyone that it was just like any other Friday night. First everyone is trading and latter come the tournaments. I was anxious at first for this was the first time I was going to be playing in another country . As I latter found out the competition is the same and the level of play did not diminish in the least. Like at Tate’s or GXE there were good player and there were your normal amateurs.

My action started fast, first found I was paired up with a mono black deck that was anything but nice. Our first game lasted almost forty minutes where I was able to sneak away with the win by deck out by using the Jester’s Cap and Academy Ruins combo.
For my next victim, just kidding, I found my self face to face with a mono green mage. After three turns of land go I was able to play a compulsive research and discard two Akroma, Angel of Wraths, this was latter fallowed with a fourth turn Dread return and a quick game one.

In game two it was just as quick however he was at the winning end this time.

Game three was a mirror of game one, and I found my self 2-0.
Match three did not go quite as well as games one and two I fell to a Boros deck wines 2-1.

For my final match I was paired with a black white deck that was short of brilliant. The first game ended in a few turns because he found himself to be mana screwed and a fourth turn Vindicate Angel that obliterated his only source of black mana leaving him several turns behind. The final game I was looking good but two third turn Extirpate almost incapacitated my deck; however a late arrival of one of my two Jesters caps sealed the deal and I ended my night 4-1.

Hope you guys had fun reading about my experience in a foreign country and remember to advertise www.Letsplaymtg.com until next time...
